The General Assembly is the decision-making body of the Heritage Network. It deals mainly with membership questions, statutes and the election of the presidency and follow-up committee. In parallel to the General Assembly is held a scientific workshop meeting, gathering researchers with expertise in fields of importance to both Europe and India. Held annually, the venue alternates between Europe and India. IIT Madras hosted the October 2022 GA. UPM hosted the 2023 GA edition in Madrid, Spain. IIT Roorkee hosted the April 2024 GA. Each institution member is expected to be represented by at least one person, both administrative and/or academic staff are welcome. Learn more about the Heritage Network here
In 2025, the HERITAGE Network with TU Dresden organise the first edition of the Spring Workshop. The Spring Workshop is a week-long event open to up to 2 PhD students per Member Institution. It will take place from May 12 to May 16, 2025 at TU Dresden and will focus on Sustainable Engineering.
The workshop teaches the methodological approach to life cycle assessment (LCA) and applies it to a simplified, practical example. It begins with a brief introduction to the process of conducting an LCA. Participants then systematically work through the four phases of LCA for various lightweight design use cases. The workshop combines short instructional lectures with small group work to create the necessary LCA documents. Using open-source software and databases, participants quantify the environmental impacts of the use cases. Additionally, they explore fundamental approaches to hotspot analysis, scenario analysis, and uncertainty assessment. The group work results are presented and discussed in the final session.
Each PhD student must be accompagnied by the HERITAGE Network representative of their own insitution. Each PhD student must be nominated by the HERITAGE Network representative of their own institution.
TU Dresden is working on pre-booking guest accommodation on the TU Dresden Campus for the Spring Workshop participants. Participants will have to pay the guest accommodation (approx. 360€)
Mobility scholarship for Indian participants will be provided by TU Dresden. Mobility scholarship for European participants will be provided by European member institutions through Erasmus+.
